Dog Resolutions for 2025

Published on 29 December 2024 at 10:00

Ah, the turning of the year, a time when humans scribble promises to themselves about less screen time and giving up biscuits (as if anyone could truly abandon such tasty joy). Us dogs, however, take a more practical approach to self-betterment. After all, our days revolve around the simple, wholesome pleasures of life: a good walk, a belly rub, and a bowl of something delicious waiting for us at the end of the day.

But even we dogs will admit there’s room for a little self-improvement. Take it from me, an old sheepdog who’s seen many a pup grow from a scrappy bundle of fluff into a dignified companion—there’s wisdom in setting a goal or two.

Perhaps it’s learning to ignore the postman rather than turning into a barking tornado each morning. Or finally figuring out that chasing one’s own tail leads only to dizzy disappointment. Or maybe it’s just savouring the moments more—whether it’s the crisp crunch of frost under paws during a winter walk or the crackling warmth of the hearth at day’s end.

So, my fellow canines, as we step into 2025, let’s not just wag our tails at the idea of resolutions. Let’s commit to them with the boundless enthusiasm we bring to everything we do. Here’s a list to inspire you, from the grand and noble to the small but significant. After all, no effort is too humble when it’s done with heart.

Now, let’s get on with it, shall we? Time waits for no dog, and there’s a ball somewhere that needs fetching.

Doggy Resolutions for 2025:

  1. Resist the bin. It’s a treasure chest of forbidden delights, but this year, sniff and walk away. Maybe.
  2. Chase fewer postmen. Or at least greet them with a wag before the bark. Baby steps.
  3. Catch that tail. The ultimate achievement—2025 is the year!
  4. Expand stick collection. Every walk deserves a new addition to the pile. Logs count too.
  5. Master the “sad eyes” for an extra sausage. Never underestimate the power of the puppy pout.
  6. Finally figure out why the hoover exists. Is it an enemy? A friend? The mystery deepens.

As the New Year dawns, remember that life is a journey best travelled with a wagging tail and a loyal heart. Whether you’re bounding into 2025 with grand ambitions or taking it one pawpad at a time, know that the simplest joys often bring the greatest rewards. May your days be filled with long walks, warm fires, and the love of those who matter most. Here’s to a year of happy adventures and cherished moments. Woof well, and prosper!
